Security considerations and “bag ban”

All events in Sweden currently have strict requirements to follow for identification of potential security threats and risk mitigation plans. For the EIC this has resulted in two outcomes that you need to be aware of:

Recommendation to keep a low profile

As national teams you are seen as representatives of your respective nations, and this may pose a security risk for some of you. Because we cannot keep up to date with all security threats that may arise for all the different nationalities involved, we would recommend that you keep national team clothes that identify you as a representative of your nation to the event venue, and do not wear them casually around town. We understand that this may seem a bit excessive, but have not been able to find another way to make sure that we are minimizing risks for all participants.

“Bag ban” – make sure to wear your badge!

As for most larger events in Sweden lately, we are expecting a “bag ban” to be imposed. This is not as bad as it seems, what it means is that people who are not participants (e.g. spectators) cannot bring a bag into the event venue. As competitors, referees, team officials, supporters, event staff etc you will receive a badge at registration. Please make sure to wear/bring your badge at all times, our helpers will be checking that you have this and will not be able to let you in with a bag if you forgot your badge.

As for registration, exact times for this will be added to the schedule shortly. If you have any issues with the times (once they’re posted), please reach out to us and we will make sure you can get your badge!
